Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge successfully completes the Business English Certification Pilot in 5 districts of Telangana

Today was a momentous day for 13 faculty members from Telangana who were recognized by the British Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Andrew McAllister and Chief Executive Officer TASK, Mr. Sujiv Nair at the Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) office.

In April 2016, TASK and Cambridge English had signed an MOU to pilot Business English Certification for students in Telangana. Subsequently 57-Faculty teaching English in Engineering Colleges went through a TSP (Teacher Support Program) by Cambridge English.  These faculty in-turn took the responsibility of skilling students in their colleges and preparing them for the BEC Certification.

239 students got skilled over a period of 3 months and then took the BEC certification and 86% of them cleared the certification exam at various levels.

Speaking on the occasion British Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Andrew McAllister said “Honourable Prime Minister Modi’s Digital India and Make in India initiatives depend on the ability of young people to contribute to the workforce. Employers in both public and private sectors are seeking people with communication skills and this is often the key differentiator amongst candidates with the same skill set. I believe TASK is absolutely right to tackle this challenge head on.  Partnering with the UK and its world class providers like Cambridge English is a great first step and a powerful statement of intent.”

CEO- TASK, Mr. Sujiv Nair thanked the faculty for their initiative to train the students in their colleges and indicated that there were several students from Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar, Rangaredddy and Hyderabad who cleared the certification, which is a reinforcement of the saying that “practice makes a man perfect”. Going forward there are plans to expand this program across more districts in Telangana. He urged the faculty members to continue their efforts in training students thereby increasing their confidence and morale.

TASK is a Telangana State Government Initiative to enhance Employability Quotient of Youth

WASHINGTON, LONDON, HYDERABAD, USA, EUROPE, INDIA, May 1, 2017 — Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) was established by the Department of ITE&C, Government of Telangana (a new state in India) to enhance collaboration between Government, Academia, and Industry to enhance employability quotient of youth in the state.

TASK today announced that it had completed a milestone of improving the skill sets of 1 lakh youth of Telangana from its inception to meet the standards of international skill demand through its international collaborations with reputed IT/ITES skill training and certification institutions like Oracle, SAP, IBM, Cisco, Samsung, Salesforce, Autodesk, Hitachi Solutions, and Pratt & Whitney.

TASK journey started three years ago in small steps, and today it works with 500+ colleges, 1 lakh skilled students and over 2000 trained faculty across all international collaborations.

TASK is the first government organization which functions like a full-fledged corporate. In the early days of TASK, a lot of effort went in understanding the needs of students, colleges, and corporates to create the value proposition of TASK which was mainly to enhance skills with the objective of improving employability quotient of students by bringing in programs in three areas of Personal Skills, Organizational Skills & Technology Skills.

Skilling Initiatives of TASK are designed to provide value addition to all of its stakeholders – Government, Students, Colleges, Corporates, and Partners.

Professors of Practice, Finishing School, Entrepreneurship Development Program and Technical Skilling through collaborations, Faculty Development Programs and Skilling Collaborations are some of the Unique Skilling Initiatives adding tremendous value to all stakeholders.

Sujiv Nair, CEO of TASK

Speaking on the milestone, Sujiv Nair, CEO of TASK said, “Success in this arena lies in identifying the appropriate skill demand and then providing the right skill supply rather than running generic mass volumes training programs. TASK has a pretty unique methodology in the identification of the unprecedented demand for a particular skillset and then planning the training programs to meet that skillset. A classic example for this is that Telangana was proactive to identify the need for training on TIZEN operating system and signed up with Samsung Digital Academy to get the right skill supply created.”

Mr.Deepak Bhardwaj, Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Samsung – South West Asia said “Telangana is taking positive strides in multiple domains. It became the first state to sign-up for Samsung Digital Academy. Under this initiative, TIZEN, the Operating System for IoT and convergence, gets taught by Telangana Academy for Skills and Knowledge (TASK) to the budding engineers of the state. In a short span, more than 500 youngsters have learned App development on TIZEN. Great leadership makes great nations.”

“International School of Business (ISB) joined hands with TASK to pilot the Technology Entrepreneurship program in the state of Telangana. Through this initiative, we aimed to embed the Technology Entrepreneurship education across all disciplines of engineering to create a successful technology entrepreneurial graduate. The TASK team worked with us in complete partnership from the word GO, and the ISB management acknowledges the impressive effort of the TEP team at TASK”, said Aruna Reddy, Head of Entrepreneurship at ISB.

C. Divya, an engineering student, who aspires to be an entrepreneur said, “I am B-tech final year student registered through TASK. I am happy to inform you that I have been selected for RTBI-IBM’s Hackathon day event which is an ‘Innovation Drive for Impact’ I attended a pre-hackathon workshop conducted by them and I am going to attend on hackathon to demonstrate my idea. Thank you so much for TASK for providing us such an excellent opportunity.”

Working this way has won TASK recognition from Public Relations Council of India for our outstanding contributions to Profession, Industry, and Society and Skoch Platinum Award in 2016 for revamping skilling initiatives for youth in Telangana in the IT/ITES sector.”

Inspired by the success story in IT/ITES sector, TASK is all set to replicate this success to other industry verticals in the coming 2 to 3 years and will look to collaborate with leading global organizations in that space to create a right skill pool to meet the global demand in those sectors. TASK is all poised for the horizontal growth and continue to revamp skilling initiatives for the youth of Telangana.
